   So take a friend or another aikidoka an practice your blocks with more speed. start slow and repeat it faster and faster.
   just the punch & the block. Its not part of the dojo to make u a streetfighter

   Animation is better, I agree, But again and again the same mistake always what everybody teches you wrong!! the punch is too soft, like delivering the wrist I practiced like that for years, and in the street it was very very different, I could do nothing, noone tought me ever how to block a real punch. I expect your input guys

   The detail on the nikyo pin @ 2:01 is NOT sufficiently detailed. Look at Ultimate aikido, by Yamada Shihan, p 101, esp pic #16, the switching process to the final pin is much more elaborately shown. You wouldn’t pass 5th kyu if you used this DVD! Strange thing is, Yamada Shihan is acknowledged on this DVD.I agree with the others,software is USELESS when it comes to aikido,you are denigrating the art. The book Ultimate Aikido casts $15, AND you don’t need a computer to use it !

   I have studied and taught Aikido for 18 years. I am also a Christian. I have no desire to become a Shintoist. O’Sensei said “Aikido belongs to the world.” Saotome Sensei says “Make AIkido your own.”

   If you want to make a martial art a religion, then go ahead. O Sensei was a Shintoist: does that mean I have to be a Shintoist to be a true practitioner? I used to think Aikido could save the world (if not the cheerleader ). But a moral way of life can be learned inside or outside the dojo.

   Can’t tell you how many Aikido books I’ve read. I also have a 7 hour video training course covering intermediate to advanced techniques. To say that that study aids won’t help is just ignorant. Judging by the temperament of some of the commentators here I’d have to say they know nothing at all!

   The software can teach you a great deal so tha, you will understand what you are being taught inside the dojo. You can benefit SIGNIFICANTLY from this software to further your understanding of technique.

    aikido is an auto-defense martial art. You can block attacks from any jack-ass or smart-ass that wants to attack you

    For christ’s sake people. This video isn’t supposed to TEACH people Aikido on it’s own! It’s supposed to help trainers and students take in what they learn in REAL classes better.

    You still go to class, but if there’s something you didn’t understand you can watch in in full 3D, slowmotion, with step-by-step details regarding the movements involved.

    It’s a STUDY AID not a DO-IT-YOURSELF DVD.

    In school you used manuals and books too. Why not use this as a “manual” to assist your training?

    I found this program very good as a helping tool to learn body -muvement techniques tool but it do not contain the true
    meaning and purpose of aikido, in my opinion
    it is about spiritual development in armony with the universe (everythin that exist)

    aikido is more than technique its morals aikido is a life style i think this is alrite but nothing would replace a sense and a dojo think morals a stiff stick will always break its not about hurting people its about enhancing your life through practicing it aikido is about peace

    I don’t see any value in these examples either but don’t you think your comment is just a little elitist? Don’t you think that Aikido is an art painted with many colors by many, individuals?

    I don’t think the people who made it would presume you could learn aikido fro software. I would suppose they see it as supporting training. As a digital trainingmanual with the many possibilities the digital medium allows for. I think it is great.

    this is completely stupid… who would want to learn aikido off a DVD like this anyway, i mean i thought aikido wasnt about technique but about making peace prevail in the world by tying our ki energies together…’aiki’ with the weak and strong, the poor and rich, male and female, young and old so that we are spiritually richer beings for it…

    not this hamster macho stuff… i mean really, if you want macho ukemi and speed and efficiency, muscle thumping stuff…why do karate instead…
