anything good about 3D televisions?

we are getting a new tv for the basement and i wasnt sure whether a 3d tv was a good idea or not. i know that they are significantly more expensive than regular lcd tvs. and i think you have to buy expensive glasses to watch the 3D shows? but basically what i wanted to know was whether or not you can watch regular (non 3d) tv without those glasses on a 3D tv?

Yes, you can watch non 3D stuff as well. What is this about expensive glasses, our cost 80p each? It really depends on how much you watch 3D TV.
