Do you think 3D movies are just a fad or is every movie coming out in future going to be 3D.?

3d used to be a novelty however it seems like it is really being exploited as a new medium. I do not know about other people but watching 3d for too long gives me a headache and the novelty is wearing off. The thought of 3D TV does not have a great appeal to me. What are your thoughts?

Hard to say right now. Since they are coming out with a 3D tv. From what i have read the 3D tv will cost about the same as regular tv, however the Glasses are whats going to be very expensive according to an article on Yahoo.
I can care less about the 3D stuff. It makes going to the movies very expensive already. I am fine with the 2D TV and movies. Now if we got into the technology of having holograms that be pretty cool. Seen a posting where someone was suggesting that they rather see them skip the 3D technology and work inventing holograms for movies.

It’s here to stay

When I think of 3D I think of things really coming of the screen at your face like they use to (still do, or did when I went to Disney a couple of years ago), but that doesn’t really seem to be the case with these movies. Yeah, they sort of come at you but nothing like you first expect (I never really enjoyed that feeling anyway). But I digress, I believe that 3D movies are here to stay because they can charge more for moviegoers to see them and the movie ends up doing better at the box office. I like how they give you the option with some movie (for example Alice in Wonderland) to watch in 2D or 3D but I’m don’t think that will alway’s be the option.
By the way I LOVE your avatar!!

When sound came out in the 1920′s, the traditionalists said it was a fad, ditto in the 1930′s with color, same in 1950′s with Cinerama/Toddao and other wide screen formats. I believe 3-D is here to stay, as a format for certain films that can benefit from the special effects available in 3-D. I don’t think a majority of flicks will have 3-D. Even through the 1960′s they were still making black & white movies. It takes a while for technology to be accepted and perfected. I remember seeing 3-D movies with the red/green glasses back in the middle 1950′s. Probably less than 10% of movies in the near future will have 3-D, just the biggies like Avatar and Alice, mostly CGI heavy live or animated movies. I can bet a nickel the next Transformers movie will be 3-D, but not teen/romance/comedy type films. I wonder when the first XXX porn 3-D movie will be made?

It’s a fad. It didn’t work before, and it won’t work now. Just give it a few years and we will be back to good ol’ 2-D films and tv.
P.S. 3-D tv doesn’t appeal to me either. Who wants to sit around looking like a dork with those glasses in your own house? Plus that is freaking uncomfortable to wear the glasses alone, and especially over real glasses.

I think Hollywood is definitely going 3D. However, as soon as the novelty wears off (and it will) they will have to find a way to make it cheaper. People won’t pay a premium forever in order to see a movie in 3D.

It’s a fad. Look at the movies coming out this year that are pushing 3D so hard, like Clash of the Titans. I think it’s here to stay, but the novelty will wear off and only big major blockbusters will feature 3D.
3D TV will end up being a feature on new TVs that nobody uses like picture-in-picture. Who wants to sit around in there house with those goofy glasses on while they watch TV? Unless programming is designed specifically for 3D, it looks less natural than without 3D. I’ve heard it compared to watching cardboard cutouts moving around.

Sad that everythings going to be in 3D

3D movies are latest fad(and future product) and going to stay some time at least.
They will surely look in to that headache issue with some good research and solution for it.
3D TV does not appeal you currently because you are not watching any 3D content on the TV right now.
I think 3D movies will be fad with big budget movies and you will get 2D movies having smaller budget to spend or risk.
