What 3d modeling software should I use?
by 3D G33K
Ok pretend that I am new to the 3d modeling software. I want a software that is easy to use and understand and can help me make a model of a train for someone. Does anyone know of a software that can do that? Much appreciated

Depends on what you want.
3D Studio Max = expensive but good
Blender = Free but complicated

google sketchup. It will take a couple hours to get used to but its great. you can import models that other people made, post your models on google earth, and cool stuff like that.

Ive had experience with Maya, 3dStudio, Autodesk, Pro Engineer, and Sketchup… id say that Sketchup is very nice considering its free. I like Maya alot but that is used more for game development. I say learn whatever you can get your hands on, but maybe if your not willing to pay, use Sketchup, ive seen some absolutely amazing models done with Sketchup, so if you play around youll get amazing at it.
