What is a good 3d game design software?
by 3D G33K
I am looking for some software that will allow me to import my own 3d models into a gaming environment with limited programming (some is ok). What I am really looking for is a program more design based than programming.

don’t use blender. I hate that program. Maya and 3D max are better but very expensive. They have no game programming involved. You’ll need a separate engine for that.

If your looking for free 3D Game Design software, go with Blender. It has a fairly ugly UI and isn’t very user-friendly, but it’s a good free designing programme. You can download it from http://www.blender.org.
If you are willing to spend some money, go with Autodesk 3ds Max. It is a much better alternative to Blender, but as I mentioned, cost money. Goto http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=5659302&siteID=123112 to download a free 30 day trial of the software.

dx studio will do what you are looking for: a realtime 3d environment, simple scripting, and loads of examples on their forums and website. Very powerful and easy to use.
Also, very affordable! ($88)

*EDIT*
You will still need a more advanced 3d modeler (though dxstudio does have a built-in editor). Free examples would be:
Truespace http://www.caligari.com (still $600 just a few months ago)
Blender (already mentioned – by the way, the gamekit for blender is now free: http://www.yofrankie.org/?p=507)
The blender game engine is getting interesting to look out for as well. Download a technical game demo made with this at:
