What is the name of the software to make a 3d video game for the computers and were can you buy it?

I want to make a 3d video game for the computer like lift 4 dead or world of warcraft. But what is the name of the software and were can I get it?

Games like Left 4 Dead and World of Warcraft are made by teams of professional programmers and graphic designers using proprietary engines (such as the Source engine for Left 4 Dead). If you want to make games and you know how to program, get Microsoft’s Visual Studio and download the XNA Framework. If you don’t know how to program, there are some basic “drag and drop” game design programs but the end results are usually really bad.

You could try Blender. It is a professional 3D design suite with it’s own built in game engine that will let you export your game as a stand alone executable program. Bear in mind that any kind of 3D design work is both time consuming and complex and Blender is no different, it’s interface can be daunting to behold at first and takes some time to learn, but the results can be very rewarding. The best thing about Blender though is the fact that it is open source and completely free to download and use and because of this there is a large network forums and useful tutorials available on the net.
