If your programs can run on Vista (if XP, just get 2-3 gb RAM option), then the best specs would be:
-4 gb RAM
-fastest CPU possible, so probably the Core 2 Duo T9500 or Core 2 Duo Extreme X9000 (if your laptop can be customized with this option)
-7200 rpm hard drive (if you need lots of storage, i would get largest capacity possible)
-8700M GT graphics card
those 4 components should guarantee some intense performance.
17″ LCD screen is probably recommended as well.
what laptop brand/model are you looking into getting? Some retailers probably won’t include these high-end options, while others (like Dell XPS high end versions) actually allow you to get SLI (2 graphics cards linked together), and RAID (2 hard drives linked together), but these features are going to leave a major dent in your wallet.
