They cost more money to get in. So… more money for the movie industry! :)

Its just another fad that’s coming in like the Vampire fad, and the super hero fad, and all the re-makes. They are just going with whatever is working for everyone else in Hollywood trying to make money.

    because of the money cost:S!

Most likely because they can charge more money for a 3D film, however, I’m not entirely sure, because I still have yet to actually see a 3D film.

    1.they require a lower budget
    2. they can use 1 person to do the voice of several characters
3.3d fits with story in a great way
4.3D movies take for example 4 months while a normal movie takes 6 months

It started with Polar Express in 2004. It was only released in 3d at Imax theaters, plus not all Imax theaters have 3d projectors so it was just about half of them showing it in 3d. Anyway there were so many tickets sold that the next year a movie studio released another one in 3d. Before this year there were about 2 or 3 3d movies released each year and the ticket sales where out selling the 2d tickets.

It boils down to the fact that demand for them was high. If demand goes down then you will see the 3d thing fad away. If not it will continue. Most cities have both the 2d and 3d version of these movies showing, so people still have the choice to not see the 3d showing if they choose. So far a lot of people are choosing the 3d showing.

Also the studios are not making as much money of the higher ticket price as people think, it does cost more to make a movie in 3d, they do make a higher profit off the extra $2.00 charge but not that much. You have to use more expensive 3d cameras. If you convert the movie to 3d after making it then it takes time and you have to pay the people to do it. I read it add about $15 million to the average movie to do it in 3d.

So again it boils down to demand.

Besides the demand, there’s the fact that better technology exists to make 3-D movies. It all makes me wonder what’s next.
