As people enjoy watching movies and are eager to watch the newest movies, there is a high demand in the entertainment industry. It is probably because of the busy lifestyle we all have and people want some sort of entertainment at the end of the day, while movies offers them the entertainment they look for. Watching a movie is an excellent way to relax after an exhausting day at work. It is simple to enjoy a great movie from the couch, regardless if we are watching a comedy or a serious movie, as they all offer entertainment. Still, movies are not just simply entertaining, but they can also be informative or educative. A good movie can be the highlight of a boring or long work day or can represent the perfect relaxation on the week end. Without any doubts, people love and really appreciate a great movie.

As the number of audience is constantly growing, more and more movies are being made. It is quite frequent for two or even three movies to be released almost simultaneously. In addition to the usual Hollywood movies, the latest trend in the movie industry is the animated movies. Although, animated movies are considered to be movies for children, that isn’t the case anymore, as millions of adults enjoy watching animated movies. Entire families are heading to the movie halls to watch such animated movies. Another highly popular movie types are the 3D movies. The 3D movies allow the audience to connect with the characters, bringing more life to the movie itself. The 3D movies are especially loved by the kids and it is a major success among moviegoers of all ages. As animated and 3D movies are an incredible success, producers are combining the two versions, as they have been proven to be more entertaining for the audience. Animation is always thrilling and people simply cannot stop admiring the 3D format. But now, people are asking for more as 3D animation is becoming something common. Let’s not forget that the technology has been developed over years. As new technology is being developed several new and better technologies are being created. Technology is constantly evolving and evolving and thus we can watch some truly entertaining movies and the lovely and thrilling 3D animation format.

But what is so special about 3D movies? Undoubtedly, it brings more life on the screen and makes it feel more real and more alive. The movie characters seem truly alive and real. The popularity of animated movies is due to that fact that people get to see something they can’t see in everyday life. Animated movies include such things as talking dogs, crying rabbits, singing chickens or talking horses. Animation movies also explore a wide range of various possibilities. It is both thrilling and interesting. It is considered that currently animated movies are a serious competition to the classic movies made with real actors. Actually, there are numerous actors and actresses whose career might be affected by the invention of animated movies. They claim there is almost no chance for error in the case of animation. Animated movies simply do not have bad acting. They only need good voices and numerous animated movies feature the voices of some of the best and most famous Hollywood actors. In the case of individual acting, there is plenty of room for error as nobody is perfect. Actually, acting is rather though, and plus, actors are constantly scrutinized by the audience. A successful movie definitely needs flawless acting. A good acting will ensure that the audience will surely enjoy the movie even with an average story line. However, if you have an excellent story line, but accompanies with bad or just average acting, the audience will stay out of the movie halls. 3D animation presents no such problem, as the acting is always perfect and people really enjoy it. Generally, 3D animated movies are sure successes, unless they have a really poor story line. Almost always, animated movies are very well received by moviegoers.

The spell of movies continues and with the latest breakthrough of 3D in the movie world everything is shaping around and taking a galactic change over. The standard film making is slowly showing signs of ageing as more producers and direction are showing their interest in 3D movie making?the generation leaps in movie making. With the beauty and complexity in filming 3D movies, it is becoming a passion to present more stereoscopic Avatar like 3D movies to the audience and certainly the kids.

3D movies are certainly the highlight of the century as the world has become one to accept this technology transfer. Such global acceptance is not always likely to take place. There does lay a sky high market for the investors and an unfathomable experience for the viewers. More of 3D movies in number and obviously with improved technology and visual are going to hit the market in 2011.Well, if you take a closer look then James Cameron?s Avatar released in 2009 that fuelled up the 3D craze again. 2010 saw almost over 20 movies released in 3D. And in 2011 the number is surely going to rise.Apart from the profit making, overwhelming and outstanding admiration and critic?s reviews are the desires of the production houses as they launch their 3D movies. A touch of new skill and creativity has long haunted the race of Homo sapiens and where ever they could they created the new technology and even this time, the touch of glimmer waits with much sizzling sensation.

3D movies are really seen as a new horizon for the film industry and as well for the viewers. This movie magic is intense and leaves with long lasting marks. Numerous 3D movies are titled in Blu-ray and are provided for home entertainment. Lots of new titles are to be released world wide as most of the theaters are 3D ready and the audience greatly awaiting the releases. Since 3D is mostly related to color and action it will be a matter of wait to see how documentary movies explore the magic of 3D.

Is it a million dollar question or absolutely a worthless point to discuss? I am literally not convinced about the fact that 3D movies will prosper with the same success. Though the 3D technology is actually rotating the whole cinema world especially after James Cameron’s Avatar being the highest grossing film of all times but surely it’s a new toy for Hollywood and each one is experimenting with it.

Nowadays people of all genres are eager to watch new movies particularly the ones which are converted into 3D or are really directed in 3D. And every time we forget that there is a big difference between the movies created in 3D and the movies transformed in 3D, no doubt that 3D can actually give you an awe feel and your complete movie experience is heightened by the big silver screen. But did we ever gave it a thought that if we extract 3D technology from the movies are we still left with good narration, fantastic direction and commendable acting skills? The answer to this question will definitely be a big NO, why because 3D effect is the only thing that wows us all else we are left with nothing more than middling questionable script, humdrum direction and gimmicky artists.

But regardless of this fact people enjoy watching 3D movies and the CGI will surely prosper in times to come. Unfortunately with all the facts discussed above, there are some strengthening specialties that have taken 3D technology to a greater height of success and there is more to come in the future. The 3D technology crafts more life in the storytelling and the lively feel of aura is attached on the screen rendering a real experience. The characters in the movie also seem to be truly alive and full of sprightliness. People enjoy 3D cinema because of its distinctive appeal something that is not captured in everyday life like interacting animals, singing pigeons, flying creatures and bonding between different species etc. Animated movies are giving a tough competition to the classic cinema of real stars and they are affected by the invention of 3D technology in movies.

Another very essential reason why the 3D movies will prosper in the coming future is the growth in the number of audiences. All are getting crazier day by day and so many more movies are either created in 3D or are being converted into the same. Creating animated flicks is the latest trend catching up in Hollywood and they are no more considered only for children coz the adults too enjoy them a lot. The 3D moves actually allow the audience to connect deeply with the characters. Even the producers and distributors are meeting with incredible success through the animation technology. And therefore it’s quite difficult to predict whether 3D movies are just for few more years or the impressive 3D technique is here to rule the cinema forever?

Mastering in 3D is another way to gain success in cinema. And these days every next movie is created in three dimensions especially when we speak about horror flicks. 3D is not a new concept in the market although it has got a fresh spicy start in this 21st century with James Cameron’s Avatar. 3D photography became popular during Victorian Times all because of David Brewster’s prism stereoscope. 3D motion pictures were not so common at that time but they were actually being made from as early as 1890 when William Friese-Greene, the pioneer in the field of motion pictures captured the interest of all by creating 3D buzz.

The first 3D movie – Power of Love was debuted in September 1922. To view the first 3D motion picture people wore anaglyph glasses same like the ones audiences wear today. Though the movie created a greater hype but found no buyers and still there were couple of movies made over the next few years on the concept of 3D animation. Even special 3d equipments were installed at The Selwyn Theater in New York.

Then in the year 1936, another 3D motion picture was released and it was a bit similar to the ones made today. The movie was made using the red/green anaglyph format and was printed by Technicolor; the MGM short even got nominated for Academy Awards. Before World War II broke out, MGM came up with two more 3D short films and were once again put on the proverbial shelf.

The early 1950′s era can be regarded as ‘The Golden Period’ of 3D animated pictures where again horror and comedy was the popular area of direction. And many of them were appreciated and did quite good at the box office. Though at that time there was no standard 3D technology or process, every studio and director was on its own developing different 3D methods and they did built their own cameras as well. But all these experiments with little drawbacks could not able to bring a revolution in the 3D cinema world.

Thenceforth from the year 1970, 3D bounced back with flying colors and saw resurgence in the animation field. The classic 3D movies like Jaws and Friday the 13th Part released in 1980s brought the young generation into the theatres. The popularity remained high even in 1990s and all credit goes to IMAX theatres.

And the biggest pioneer director James Cameron came up with smashingly terrific and magnificent sci-fi thriller – Avatar. He not only created a novel cinematic experience but invaded advance 3D technology and wonderful techniques to exhibit his real talent in form of such a marvelous fantasy onto the silver screens. He even convinced the theatre owners to alter the old 3D tools for a greater 3D cinema and now the new 3D techniques are being adopted as the industry standards.

In the year 2009, many great 3D movies were released and their success influenced every movie buff. Even the theatre owners around the world want to invest in the latest 3D technology to render a wondrous 3D movie experience. The year 2011 is ready to showcase numerous 3D movies and for sure the technology is here to stay.

These days, it seems like every movie they make is in 3D – horror movies, in particular – but 3D is nothing new. 3D photography first became popular in Victorian Times, thanks to David Brewster’s prism stereoscope. Though 3D motion pictures would not become popular for another century, they were being made as early as 1890, when pioneer, William Friese-Greene, patented his 3D movie process. Friese-Greene’s technology was too complicated for theatrical uses, but many filmmakers and studios were developing their own 3-D technology.

The Power of Love, the first 3D movie, debuted in 1922. Audience members wore anaglyph glasses, similar to the ones audiences wear today. The movie found no buyers, but aroused the public’s curiosity, and a handful of them were made over the next several years. The Selwyn Theater in New York even installed specialized equipment for 3D movies, but they had to be made using a specific process, which never caught-on, so 3D movie-making languished over the next decade.

In 1936, the first 3D motion picture, similar to those with which we are familiar, was released. The MGM short, made using the red/green anaglyph format, was printed by Technicolor and received an Academy Award nomination. MGM made two more 3D shorts before World War II erupted. These types of movies were once again put on the proverbial shelf.

The early 1950s would become known as “the Golden Age” of 3D movies. Comedy and horror were the most popular, but 3D movies and shorts spanned every genre, and many did quite well at the box office. However, there still existed no standard technology or process; every studio and individual developed their own methods, even built their own cameras. Other stereoscopic processing methods with fewer drawbacks were being developed as well – including Cinemascope and Cinerama – and 3D faded into the background once again.

While the 1970s saw an underground resurgence of 3D movies, most were for adults. It was the 1980s’ slasher flicks that brought them back into theaters, with such “classics” as Jaws 3-D and Friday the 13th Part 3-D. The method remained popular throughout the 1990s, thanks to IMAX theaters, even though the majority of them were not 3D-capable until 2004.

James Cameron, director of the record-smashing 3-D sci-fi epic, Avatar, has been the leader in 3-D technology and acceptance for many years now. Cameron and crew invented new 3-D camera technology and techniques, which he employed in the making of Avatar. These are now being adopted as the industry standards. He also convinced theater owners across America to invest the estimated 0,000 to retool their theaters to show 3D movies and, thanks to Avatar’s success, this trend has continued worldwide.

2009 saw the release of dozens of 3-Dimensional movies. The success of these and others, including Avatar, have convinced theater owners worldwide to invest in the technology needed to show 3-D movies the way they were meant to be seen. The movie studios’ scheduled releases through 2011 include numerous 3-D movies, proving that not only are they here to stay, they are just getting started!

National Harbor, MD (PRWEB) June 14, 2011

A study released today shows that movies still rank as the consumer favorite in the 3DTV viewing experience, with 93 percent of 3DTV owners reporting they had watched 3D movies at home. This finding is in line with 2010 findings, where 77 percent of consumers perceived 3DTV viewing to be better suited to special events, such as movies or sporting events. Perhaps surprisingly, while some viewers in 2010 indicated a feeling of isolation with the 3D glasses, the majority of current 3DTV owners, indeed, reported watching 3D programming with others. In fact, 64 percent reported watching a movie with others and 63 percent said they watched a documentary with a friend or family member.

In line with other recent studies, the June “ Pulse ; What’s Next for 3DTV?” conducted by NPD and commissioned by the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM), indicates that 87 percent of current 3DTV set owners say they are satisfied with the quality of their 3D picture and 60 percent report their TVs are worth the price.

This research comes amidst a swirl of industry analysts and pundits seeming to hedge their bets on consumer adoption of 3D television and tells a different story. In addition to high levels of satisfaction, the research shows a shift in attitude about the 3D glasses, described by many in 2010 as a “hassle.” In fact, today 47 percent of 3DTV set owners say they’re satisfied with having to wear the glasses and 55 percent are satisfied with the fit of the glasses.

When looking at 3DTV owners vs. HDTV owners, the research shows overall satisfaction with the clarity of the picture is similar, as 87 percent of 3DTV owners are satisfied with the 3D picture and 94 percent of HDTV owners are satisfied with their HD picture.

“Not unlike the rollout of HDTV a few years ago, consumers are still excited about the potential of immersive in-home 3DTV viewing,” said Char Beales, president and CEO, CTAM. “When HDTV rolled out, there was little hi-def programming available, but the early-adopting consumers were forgiving and willing to wait for the content to further advance. This new data show similar sentiments are mirrored in the rollout of 3DTV, indicating that some analysts maybe judging the demise of the format prematurely.”

However, the study does show there is a need for more content. Only 40 percent of 3DTV owners are satisfied with the amount of 3D programming available.

As interest in 3D technology grows, consumers are also showing an interest in viewing 3D content on a variety of devices. While 21 percent of adults (a18+) are interested in watching 3D movies at home, 17 percent are interested in taking 3D photos and 14 percent are interested in taking 3D videos.

Despite the abundance of 3D devices emerging in the market, consumer awareness of these devices, remains focused specifically on 3DTV sets. With 36 percent of total households aware of 3D LCD TVs, awareness among other 3D devices, such as 3D camcorders (5%) remains low and only 14 percent of consumers are planning to purchase a 3D LCD TV in the next six months.

This research is based on an online survey conducted by NPD’s Fast Follow-Up Program. Fieldwork was conducted from April 29-May 5, 2011 and was comprised of a pre-identified group of 3DTV owners (n=332) and a pre-identified group of HDTV owners (n=577). Both samples included individuals ages 18+. This study has a +/- 5.4 percentage point margin of error at the 95% confidence level.

A portion of the data included in this analysis is as of February 2011 and is provided by The NPD Group’s 3D 360º Monitor. The NPD 3D 360º Monitor provides a complete view of the 3D ecosystem through an online consumer sample including 1,984 panelists forming a representative sample of U.S. adults (A18+). This study has a +/- 3.3 percentage point margin of error at the 95% confidence level.
